Saying good by to an old friend

Today I loaded up my dear little Farmal Cub and took it to its new owner.I brought this little tractor to life after it had been left to rust away.I took this tractor that needed a new heart and breathed new life into it with a new engine paint and love only a farm boy could understand.I did not have to send it away but now that I have a new tractor it was not being used and I could not see it go to waist like it was when I found it.But how happy I am tonight to see her in her new digs as it was sold to the High Hand Nursery that is smack dab in the main street of our little town of Loomis. It will be on display for the whole town to see and enjoy and it will once again be used.I was so happy to see how it looks so much at home now with all the plants and flowers to set it off.I am so proud of this little cub and now every one can enjoy her as much as I have these past 20 years. So I did not loose a friend because I can always drop by and see how enjoyed it is by people who bought her to show and love.I am so happy the town has this little tractor to enjoy.

State and nationational gold panning championships

This weekend we had our gold panning championships and I got roped in as a timer. All I can say is it was a very busy weekend indeed as we went through 500 panners in one day and I felt I had done at least 50 of those. Each person had ten minutes to pan out there bucket and as the buckets were salted with the gold the judges knew how many flakes of gold should be on the judges table. As you can see we have some interesting folks in our club I think some just came from 1849.There was also our persident Don and his wife Anny these two are such a main stay in the town of Forest Hill we are so lucky to have those two running our club.On Sunday my friend Dawn and her best friend took a few minutes to have a picture taken.Sigh all Diana could say is there is Ed and his girls again with a wink in her eye.

our gold hound meeting

You bet their is still more gold left in those hills and as you can see some are finding it.I do not have a price on the nuggets but all three would probably be worth 25.000.Ho well I will be happy to find the small flaks that the 49rs didnt want and left for me.

The Forth of July

Last month we went to the small town of Clarks Berg and watched a small town parade with all the trimmings including lots of flags with made in China tags.I had to just sit and sigh at this flag thing wow what next or should I even ask.I almost had to ride on the celtic float but they had plenty and I was relived I could sit with Diana and my daughter and enjoy. After we left we stopped by the this wonderful winery and took some neat pics

WOW we had a very busy day canning peaches and boy did we work all day.Monday my friend and I went to Live Oak and found an old friend that just happens to have a large peach orchard. He not only gave us some he let us have the already picked ones ready for the Gridley Cannery where I worked one summer. We brought three lug boxes home and Tuesday our friends and us canned all those peaches 51 quarts to be exact. It did make a busy day but also a fun day as we worked and had fun shearing stories and thinking of all those peaches we will have this winter.

we have been socked in with smoke

This summer we have fires burning all around us and for the past three weeks we have not seen the sun as it looks like a cloudy day.Sadly it is still over 100 and today it was smoke and 106 and a few miles away it was 111.So give us a prayer now and then as we need a rest for our fire fighters they are wore out after three weeks.People are getting sick from this stuff but thank fully it dosent bother me and I can still manage to do more then I need to.This pic was taken about 5:oo in the evening and no it is not the moon this is the way it is every day now.

our new babies

We have new babies some are growing in the ground and some are so much fun to watch as they play with each other. The bell peppers and water melon we will eat.The chickens we will eat their eggs when they get old enough.I have always wanted chickens and now we finely have fifteen to enjoy. Now all I need to convince this is an good idea is the Canadian geese who fly over every day to make sure they are the boss of this land.It is my hope we will not only have our own eggs by next January but just maybe we can sell some as they can lay three eggs a day.
