My ladies hard at work

these are my girls hard at work making eggs and yes manure for our garden.I dont just look at chicken eggs as all I get for all the feed I put into these birds but the fertilizer we get is just as importiant as eggs and meat.Any one who has bought fertilizer these days knows it cost a lot these days
These ladies are working hard to please me dont you just love them birds.

These birds are rare chickens and get very big for chickens. They are called Jersy Giants and as you can see these are big already for only two months. When you look at the birds in the bottom pic you can see these birds are almost as big as the ten month old birds we bought last year.So this is what chicken scratch has been up to nown on quack flat and yes those Canadian geese are back this spring and watching us from atop our barn roof. This place is really a fun place when we look at all we have happening on just two and a half acres.

All this work keeps us in food and out of trouble

Diana and I have been working every day to get things done and cheep food on the table. As you see Diana pulls her own around here and is such a great partner for any one The compost piles are ready for the summer garden and should be even better this yeas as we have rabbet and chicken manure in the compost this year.Dang where would we be without this tractor

Our brockly and onions are doing very well and this winter we have had lettuce and green onions every night from our garden. In the next few weeks we will put in our garlic and potatoes for the summer garden. We have also worked up another large garden plot and plan on keeping people who need vegetables who can not afford then this summer. This is just a few things we have been doing down south this past few months but it dose keep us busy and out of trouble.

A few of the things going on down at quackflat

this is a pic of my trees we planted years back for our own fire wood and as you see my dog is keeping watch so they are still there when I need them We have some new rabbits and a new rabbit and chicken barn heck we are almost farmers these days.It is our plane to raise rabbits and chickens for food and eggs.I kind of hate doing this but we will need food and these will help when prices get to high.

This is our new wood shed and mower shed we built this winter and soon we will get some paint on this and it will look somewhat better

Saying good by to an old friend

Today I loaded up my dear little Farmal Cub and took it to its new owner.I brought this little tractor to life after it had been left to rust away.I took this tractor that needed a new heart and breathed new life into it with a new engine paint and love only a farm boy could understand.I did not have to send it away but now that I have a new tractor it was not being used and I could not see it go to waist like it was when I found it.But how happy I am tonight to see her in her new digs as it was sold to the High Hand Nursery that is smack dab in the main street of our little town of Loomis. It will be on display for the whole town to see and enjoy and it will once again be used.I was so happy to see how it looks so much at home now with all the plants and flowers to set it off.I am so proud of this little cub and now every one can enjoy her as much as I have these past 20 years. So I did not loose a friend because I can always drop by and see how enjoyed it is by people who bought her to show and love.I am so happy the town has this little tractor to enjoy.

State and nationational gold panning championships

This weekend we had our gold panning championships and I got roped in as a timer. All I can say is it was a very busy weekend indeed as we went through 500 panners in one day and I felt I had done at least 50 of those. Each person had ten minutes to pan out there bucket and as the buckets were salted with the gold the judges knew how many flakes of gold should be on the judges table. As you can see we have some interesting folks in our club I think some just came from 1849.There was also our persident Don and his wife Anny these two are such a main stay in the town of Forest Hill we are so lucky to have those two running our club.On Sunday my friend Dawn and her best friend took a few minutes to have a picture taken.Sigh all Diana could say is there is Ed and his girls again with a wink in her eye.

our gold hound meeting

You bet their is still more gold left in those hills and as you can see some are finding it.I do not have a price on the nuggets but all three would probably be worth 25.000.Ho well I will be happy to find the small flaks that the 49rs didnt want and left for me.

The Forth of July

Last month we went to the small town of Clarks Berg and watched a small town parade with all the trimmings including lots of flags with made in China tags.I had to just sit and sigh at this flag thing wow what next or should I even ask.I almost had to ride on the celtic float but they had plenty and I was relived I could sit with Diana and my daughter and enjoy. After we left we stopped by the this wonderful winery and took some neat pics
